Getting Started with Common Core

What are the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics?

The Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) were adopted by California in 2010. These standards describe what students should know and be able to do. Along with many of the other states, California began the quest in implementing these standards. Click here for resources from the California Department of Education and answers to questions about what the standards are and how they were developed.

Did you know that there is a National CCSSM document and a California CCSSM document?

States were allowed to make 15% additions to the standards. After making revisions to the Ca CCSSM, we now have a final version of the standards. The CA CCSSM are very similar to the original standards as well as other State's versions of the CCSSM.

What about an App for CCSSM?

There are a couple of apps available for use with the California CCSSM.
  1. Sacramento County Office of Education developed an app called "e Standards", available both in the Apple Store and Google Play.
  2. Ca State Standards is available for both Apple and Android users. Mastery Connect Inc. is developing Common Core apps for states across the country.
